How to Apply For Federal Financial Aid for College Students
Since the Federal SEOG grant is a program that is federally granted, I find it logical that the application also comes free. Any college students out there like me who would like to take advantage of this free college money can follow these rather simple steps to get it.
However, I must be quick to mention that though the whole process might be simple, I found out that going about it the right way makes the whole different in accessing the grant.
First, I had to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form, otherwise known as the FAFSA form, online and submit it. In order for my form to be accepted, I had to designate it as eligible.
And please folks, don’t forget to do the same if you really need this free money. As a matter of fact, only undergraduate students qualify for the Federal financial aid for college from FSEOG. Moreover, the FAFSA organization recommends online application as the speedy way to allow for review of your application.
Other than the FAFSA form, I also had to fill out some additional forms from my college since I am a college student. But for university students, they can do the same through their universities or alternatively through the Federal Government.
In my first application for the grant, I had to furnish FAFSA with all the information concerning my family and their income. There is a lot of information required on this and one might not have it all on their fingertips like in my case. But the good thing is that I always save my form online, go back and fetch the information and later come back to continue with the application process.
I have realized that family information is very important as the organization uses this information to determine who is eligible for the grant and who isn’t. I am now in my third year in college and each year, I have to reapply for the grant so as to update it.
The FAFSA organization also considered and accepted my application for the Pell Grants, which is also another program funded federally.
